I captured this subject in Kodak E100SW transparency film with an Ebony 4×5 camera and 150mm Rodenstock Sironar S lens in Detweiler Run Natural Area, Rothrock State Forest, Pennsylvania.

This image was captured within a mostly Hemlock old growth forest. The vast ancient forests of Pennsylvania once contained many Red Pines among the White Pines and Hemlocks. The we known for being tall, straight specimens but today they are extremely rare. This beautiful old tree was growing along with large old Hemlocks and it was they only truly old Red Pine that I ever found in Central PA.
This tree portrait was captured to pay homage to this beautiful survivor, its wonderful texture, saturated color and for the deep contrast of the void at the base of the trunk.

“Old Growth Red Pine #5” is offered as a limited edition, color fine art photographic print. I captured this subject in Detweiler Run Natural Area in Rothrock State Forest, Pennsylvania on Kodak 4×5 E100SW transparency film with an Ebony 4×5 view camera and 150mm APO Rodenstock Sironar S APO lens.

The drum scan of the 4×5 transparency assures print sizes to 44 x 55 are critically sharp at extremely close viewing distances. All images are as I saw them and imaged with only color, brightness, shadow and contrast & local light and shadow adjustments, just as I did in the darkroom. 

This is a museum quality fine art print in Color. Price includes the color fine art photographic print, shipped flat to 24 x 30 and rolled in a tube mailer for larger sizes. Print only, includes white border, click image to see example for largest print size. Print requires frame that matches print size.  The print border assures that no mat board is required for framing. Classic AR Glass, Museum Glass or other UV glass or acrylic as the “Glazing” is highly recommended for UV protection and to protect the print. We can help with the framing in several molding styles and glazing options or steer you in the right direction for the perfect framing materials that assure archival print endurance.
