“South Broadway Viaduct #7” is offered as a custom fine art black and white photographic print, signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity.

I captured this urban landscape with a Fuji Digital Medium Format Camera and an ultra sharp Contax 645 120mm Planar lens.

This true urban viaduct in Aurora, Illinois was built in 1922 and spans much of the city’s downtown. Viaduct #14 was captured near the southwestern terminus of the structure. I found this viaduct eye appealing in its architecture, gritty feel and the signs of decay doe to its age. The lighting was perfect though the exposure times needed to capture this image were 30+ seconds long which proved to be a challenge in shooting across an rather busy street. The tripod placement was also precarious with one leg on the very edge of the concrete walkway that dropped down to the roadway below. Capturing twelve sharp images, void of passing vehicles, took perhaps an hour. Urban decay is made beautiful in this image by the subtle contrast and substantial texture of the pillars, girders, roadway and the deck above. A higher ISO added some film like grain to this image.

I carefully composed this scene with a wide angle lens and then captured eight detailed images to produce the final large format 4:5 square aspect ratio print file. Print sizes to 40″ x 60″ are critically sharp at extremely close viewing distances.

This limited Edition Print will be Signed and Numbered. Pricing includes the print only with a white border and includes free shipping unless otherwise noted. This Print Requires Framing (see detailed info below).

Description

Limited Edition, fine art urban black and white photographic print, “South Broadway Viaduct #7” was shot in Aurora, Illinois.

I captured this viaduct image in Fuji digital medium format with Contax 645 120mm Planar lens and it was stitched from eight detailed images. Print sizes to 40″ x 60″ are critically sharp at extremely close viewing distances. All images are what I saw with only color, brightness, shadow and contrast & local light and shadow adjustments, just as I did in the darkroom.

This is a museum quality fine art print in black and white.

  • Again, the white borders of the print assure that a cut mat board is not required for framing an Archival Print.
