This trip to Franconia notch was magical. The light, fog and stillness were a striking contradiction as the sound of 100 plus mile an hour winds up higher created a faint but audible “roar” to the gentle calm in the notch.

The fog soaked smooth boulders and mist emitted from the plume of water captured my attention to this intimate landscape. I had been to this exact location several times spanning the time from shooting film to digital medium format but had not experienced the perfect lighting & color, water flow and glowing mist as depicted in this scene. After determining the framing with a single wider angle image, I captured the 6 images with my sharpest lens that would be stitched together to form this detailed very large scale print file. The hour it took to set up my tripod, frame the scene, await the perfect lighting and capture this image was like an enlightening therapy session. My hope is that it allows a fraction of that in a viewer of the final print.

“Pemigewasset River #7”, photographed in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire, is offered as a limited edition, fine art color photographic print. I captured this subject in Fuji digital medium format with Contax 645 120mm Planar lens.

There is also a black and white version of this image taken with B&W sheet film available in the Black and White Intimate Landscapes collection. The image was formed from 6 separate images stitched together assuring that print sizes to 40 x 50 (and much larger) are critically sharp at extremely close viewing distances in the final print. All images are as I saw them and imaged with only color, brightness, shadow and contrast & local light and shadow adjustments, just as I did in the darkroom. 

This is a museum quality fine art print in Color. Price includes the print, shipped flat to 24 x 30 and rolled in a tube mailer for larger sizes. Print only, includes white border, click image to see example for largest print size. Print requires frame that matches print size.  The print border assures that no mat board is required for framing. Classic AR Glass, Museum Glass or other UV glass or acrylic as the “Glazing” is highly recommended for UV protection and to protect the print. We can help with the framing in several molding styles and glazing options or steer you in the right direction for the perfect framing materials that assure archival print endurance.
