“Detweiler Run #1” is offered as a custom fine art black and white photographic print, signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity. This image was captured before the Ancient Old Growth Eastern Hemlocks in Central PA were decimated.

I captured this black and white Rhododendron Bloom along Detweiler Runin 4×5 film with an Ebony view camera and 135mm APO Rodenstock Sironar S APO lens in the Detweiler Run Natural Area of Rothrock State Forest, Pennsylvania.

This image was captured on my first visit to this true virgin old growth forest. The stream was flowing with crystal clear water and producing a flowing fog in the unique mossy and lush environment of the ancient forest. It was a transformational experience and set me on my quest to search out and photograph true Eastern US Old Growth Forests for my “Tree Portraits” series. A heartfelt thank you to the late Don Hamer, a noted environmentalist, philanthropist and protector of the clear water and natural areas of Central PA, for leading me to this magical place on that magical summer day in 1996.

This limited Edition Print will be Signed and Numbered. Price is for the print only with a white border (click image to see example for largest sized print) and includes free shipping. Print requires framing and glazing (glass or acrylic) though no mat board will be required.

“Detweiler Run #1” is offered as a limited edition, fine art black and white photographic print. I captured this subject in 4×5 film with an Ebony 4×5 view camera and 135mm APO Rodenstock Sironar S APO lens in the Detweiler Run Natural Area of Rothrock State Forest, Pennsylvania.

The image was captured before the Ancient Old Growth Eastern Hemlocks in Central PA were decimated by the hemlock wooly adelgid. The drum scan of the 4×5 transparency assures print sizes to 52 x 65 (and larger) are critically sharp at extremely close viewing distances. All images are as I saw them and imaged with only color, brightness, shadow and contrast & local light and shadow adjustments, just as I did in the darkroom. 

This is a museum quality fine art print in black and white. Price includes the print, shipped flat to 24 x 30 and rolled in a tube mailer for larger sizes. Print only, includes white border, click image to see example for largest print size. Print requires frame that matches print size.  The print border assures that no mat board is required for framing. Classic AR Glass, Museum Glass or other UV glass or acrylic as the “Glazing” is highly recommended for UV protection and to protect the print. We can help with the framing in several molding styles and glazing options or steer you in the right direction for the perfect framing materials that assure archival print endurance.
